Join us on Saturday 11 October for the fourth Bare Skills workshop – Shelter – where participants will enter an interactive space to think about how they can build housing and protection for themselves, their community and animals using limited resources.

Bare Skills: Healing will begin with a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country from Baramadagal women Heidi Duncan and Linda Sainsbury. Dharug facilitators will then take participants through ways to make urgent shelter in Parramatta's natural and urban environments.

Participants will learn about how to work together to make shelters for themselves and others. Artist Tiyan Baker will guide the group in building a house out of bamboo using collective energy and tracitional architectural principles. Then, Billie Moran from the City of Parramatta Bush Care team will show participants how to make bug and small animal "hotels" to protect wildlife from changing habitats.

Bare Skills is a new series of art and survival workshops for young people aged 14 to 25, developed by Parramatta Artists Studios and hosted every second month at PAS Granville.

It is a safe and inclusive space and people with diverse identities and abilities are welcome. The ground floor of Parramatta Artists Studios in Granville will include a kitchen, communal reflection table, two workshop spaces and a themed quiet area with a resource library.
