As Parramatta continues its evolution into a global City, it is fast becoming a launchpad for startups.

The annual Family Science Day event by the City of Parramatta and Powerhouse, which took place on Saturday 19 August, brought 8,000 people into Parramatta Square and supported a $1.1m boost in the local economy.

The Parramatta Legal & Justice Coalition which is advocating for an expanded legal and justice precinct in Parramatta was pleased to welcome the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of NSW to the recent Law Term opening event.

The annual Boomtown Summit held late last year, highlighted the importance of rail infrastructure in the growth of Western Sydney and specifically Parramatta. The Summit held at Sydney Olympic Park and run by the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue (WSLD), shone a light on different modes of rail transport.

Parramatta is connected to the rest of Australia via its excellent transport links but also its diverse community, and business networks. By locating in Parramatta, SBS would have easy access to move in and out of the area with ease, as well as close connections with residents, visitors and businesses.

One of the highlights of the recent 'Boomtown! Dinner and Summit' held at Sydney Olympic Park is the quality of life that residents, workers and visitors of Parramatta and Greater Western Sydney enjoy.

Parramatta is a place where global citizens live alongside each other making it an ideal location for a multicultural broadcaster like SBS. Half of the population of Parramatta was born overseas, speaking over 140 languages between them. The population is young with a median age of 32.1 years old and well educated with more than two-thirds of the population with a post-school qualification.

In its seventh year, this property and infrastructure summit for Greater Western Sydney brought together leaders and experts in government, development, construction, design, planning, transport, housing, services, energy and sustainability.

A report that will help guide Greater Parramatta’s potential to become a truly ‘global’ city has been released. The report by Western Sydney University (WSU) entitled Parramatta 2035: Vibrant, Sustainable, Global, proposes a series of key recommendations.
