First Lord Mayor Business Forum unlocks success in Parramatta

The City of Parramatta hosted their first ever Lord Mayor Business Forum on 29 April 2025, bringing together a range of industry leaders, businesses and government officials, to discuss investment in Parramatta now and into the future.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter says the time to invest in Parramatta is now and the forum provided tools on how to break into the Parramatta economy and enjoy a slice of the pie to remain successful for decades to come. A key message Cr Zaiter wants to come out of the forum is that “Parramatta is open for business”.

Parramatta’s economy is valued at about $28.86 billion, the second largest in NSW and home to about 178,000 jobs. Cr Zaiter believes the numbers speak for themselves and Parramatta is the key to unlocking economic opportunities for the next generation of Sydneysiders.

By 2050, Parramatta is on track to have a population of about half a million people and this is why Council has set a target for Parramatta to be Western Sydney’s jobs engine and create 150,000 additional jobs by 2050.

Also premiering at the Forum is a brand-new video showcasing Global Parramatta, “Rise Above, Parramatta”. The video showcases our City as we enter into a new era of transformation, catalysed by city shaping infrastructure and investment. A global city full of world class experiences and opportunities.

Watch Rise Above, Parramatta and see how Global Parramatta is transforming into the economic powerhouse, cultural and transportation hub in Sydney’s geographic heart.
