Make Music Day returns to Parramatta on Sunday 21 June, bringing free live music to the heart of the city during the Parramatta Half Marathon.  

Catch the dynamic sounds of emerging Western Sydney artists and bands along the racecourse as runners, supporters and locals come together for a city-wide celebration.  

PARRAMATTA TOWN HALL

Head to Parramatta Town Hall in Parramatta Square for an electric lineup featuring Hive Mind, Soggy Weetbix, Shereen Hallig, Majeda and DJ GNGR.  

  • Hive Mind (8.00am – 8.30am): Hive Mind is a three-member dynamic teenage band formed through a shared passion for musical theatre and performing arts, with a cohesive sound shaped by storytelling, energy and emotion.
  • Soggy Weetbix (9.00am-9.30am) Featuring a trio of self-taught multi-instrumentalists, Soggy Weetbix is an emerging alternative rock band from the heart of Western Sydney. As YouthRock 2024 Grand Finalists and Best of the West Finalists, Soggy Weetbix are rapidly gaining a reputation for their iconic live performances, with mind-blowing mid-set switch-ups and catchy original tunes.  
  • Sheeren (10.00am-10.30am) Shereen is an RnB singer with almost 2 decades of singing experience.  She completed Music Performance as major at Western Sydney University 2023  and now works full time as a singing coach. Wait til you hear her vocals roar!  
  • Majeda (11.00-11.30am) Majeda-Mo’ Tapalinga’s roots stem from Indigenous Australia, the Torres Straits and African American heritage. From a performing arts family, Majeda is a talented singer, rapper, beat boxer and dancer.
  • DJ GNGR (between sets) One of the stars of last year's Parramatta Lanes, DJ GNGR brings high-energy Afrobeats to the dancefloor with a sound that’s vibrant, rhythmic and deeply rooted in global club culture. Her sets are bold, bass-heavy and built to move you.  

BRISLINGTON HOUSE

Over at Brislington House on George Street, students from Western Sydney Music Academy will soundtrack the race-day atmosphere in the heart of the action.

WSMA has been a vital part of the region’s creative community since 2012, providing high-quality, professional music tuition, right from the heart of Parramatta. For over a decade, their dedicated team of tutors have guided aspiring musicians of all ages and skill levels, offering everything from foundational AMEB classical training, to modern music production. Far more than just a space for weekly lessons, the Academy is deeply committed to bringing music to life across Greater Sydney through a vibrant calendar of community events. They regularly host energetic student gig nights at local venues, artist clinics, and collaborative band workshops that give emerging talent the invaluable experience of live performance.  

PARRAMATTA PARK

Runners and spectators can soak up the vibrant sounds of Trevor Brown Trio, bringing energy to The Crescent at Parramatta Park.  

Trevor Brown Trio (7.30am to 12.30pm)  

Trevor Brown is an Australian musician, composer, improviser, sound designer, lecturer and radio presenter whose diverse career has spanned from Symphony Orchestra to Outback Circus to Festival Director. His work crosses between classical, jazz, improvised, new music, sound design and electronic music.  With deep roots, and research in, traditional music from around the world. He has performed, produced and composed works for the Sydney Opera House, MONA and DARK MOFO; headlined at Woodford Festival, performed at Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin Festivals.
