Fireworks and General Information

What date and time is the event?

Wednesday 31 December 2025, from 5:00pm – 9:30pm. 

Is the event free?

Yes, this event is free! The Crescent Stage will have strictly limited capacity and will require wristbands for entry. See above.

Amusement rides are not free. Tickets for rides can be purchased at the event.

What time are the drone show and fireworks?

The drone show begins at 8:55pm, followed by the 9pm fireworks, launched from multiple sites across the park for brilliant visibility from all viewing area.

Where is the best place to view the fireworks?

You can enjoy the fireworks from any of the event zones within Parramatta Park. If you live nearby, you might even spot them from home! 

What is the drone show?

For the first time ever, Parramatta’s New Year’s Eve will feature a spectacular drone show! Hundreds of illuminated drones will dance across the night sky at 8:55pm, forming creative shapes and colours set to music before the 9pm fireworks.

You can see it from The Paddock and will last approximately 5 minutes. The fireworks will follow straight afterwards. 

What happens in bad weather?

Light/medium rain will not cause cancellation of the New Year’s Eve events. As public safety is one of our priorities, adverse weather forecasts of lightning storms, torrential rain and/or strong winds may result in event cancellation.  

Strong wind may result in cancellation of the fireworks display. Please keep eye on any event announcements on the AT Parramatta Facebook or Instagram pages. 

Food & Drink

Is there food on site?

Yes. Enjoy over 30 food stalls and trucks serving everything from global street eats to family favourites. Bring a picnic rug and settle in for a night of good food and great music.

Is there a bar on site?

A licensed bar will be located at the Cattle Paddock Stage. You must carry a valid ID to enter.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Yes, you are allowed to bring your own food from home. We recommend bringing a picnic basket and/or Esky, with low foldable festival chairs or a picnic rug to make a comfortable space for yourself on the grass. Cooking equipment, such as camping gas burners, are not permitted on site. 

Can I bring alcohol (BYO)?

Alcohol is permitted in small amounts for people over 18. Security may ask to inspect your bags and check ID if you are bringing alcohol into the event. 

Liquor brought into the park will be strictly restricted to 1 litre with a 14% maximum alcohol or 6x Beers/Ciders (5%) per person. No glass will be permitted into the park. 

Where can I refill my water bottle?

Free refill stations are available throughout the park, including near each of the stages. Bring your own bottles and refill through the evening! 

Getting here and Public Transport

With thousands of extra transport services, large crowds and road closures the best way to get to and from New Year's Eve celebrations in Parramatta is by public transport. Please visit here to find out more. Parramatta Light Rail will be running, leave the car at home for a hassle free evening!

By Train

Westmead Station is a quick 5-minute walk via Railway Avenue and Parramatta Station is a short 12-minute walk to Parramatta Park.

Parramatta Station has rail links to most major suburban centres in Sydney and the Blue Mountains with a travel distance of just 30-minutes from Sydney CBD.

By Bus

Parramatta is well served by buses to the interchange on Argyle Street, near Parramatta Station. Bus routes connect Parramatta with other Sydney destinations such as Castle Hill, Hornsby, Ryde, Strathfield and Sydney CBD. See www.transportnsw.info to plan your trip by public transport.

NB: routes may be changed due to road closures. 

Road Closures

Road closures will be in place around Parramatta Park on Wednesday 31 December from 4pm to 10pm, including Queens Road, Park Avenue, Alfred Street, Central Avenue and Railway Parade. 

Additional temporary closures will occur on the eastern side of the park from 8:30pm to 10pm to assist with crowd movement and fireworks viewing safety. 

Parking

For safety, the park will be closed to all vehicles on Wednesday 31 December 2025. There will be no parking inside Parramatta Park, and several external parking areas around the park will also be unavailable due to event operations.

It is strongly recommended taking public transport to the event. There may be significant traffic delays in the City around the Park due to road closures. 

Accessibility

Parramatta Park is wheelchair accessible. 

Accessible Parking

Limited accessible parking will be available at the corner of Park Avenue and Railway Avenue.

  • Arrival window: 4pm–8pm
  • Departure window: 9:45pm onwards (after crowds have cleared)  An accessibility buggy will operate to and from the site.
Access Instructions

To secure access to these parking facilities, prior registration is absolutely mandatory. Please send an email to events@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au with the following details:

  • Your Name
  • Contact Number
  • Vehicle Registration
  • Accessibility Permit Number
  • Arrival and Departure Times
  • Number of People in Your Group (the buggy can accommodate up to 5 people)

For additional information or to complete your registration, do not hesitate to contact us. 

Are there accessible viewing areas?
  • Viewing areas at the top of The Crescent and to the south of the main stage.
  • Accessible toilets and restrooms nearby.
  • An accessibility buggy will circulate every 12–15 minutes until 8pm and then after 9.30pm. 

If you require assistance during the event, please notify event staff.

Are there accessible toilets onsite?

Yes, accessible toilets will be within the event site.  

Auslan

We're excited to announce that Auslan interpretation will be available at both The Crescent and Paddock stages, ensuring that our event is accessible and inclusive for everyone. We look forward to having you join us and enjoy the performances!

What I should leave at home.

Can I bring a shade tent/dome?

No, shade tents/domes and other similar structures are not permitted at the event. 

Can I bring a drone?

No, you cannot bring a drone.  

Can I bring my dog?

We recommend leaving your furry family member at home, if possible, as there will be fireworks display quite close to the event site. 

If you live nearby, ensure you have made prior plans for your pets to be safe and secure during our 9.00pm fireworks.  

On Site Facilities 

Is there an ATM?

There are no ATMs within the park, however, food stalls will have card payment options available. 

Where are the toilets?

Toilets and accessible facilities are located near The Crescent, The Paddock, and Coronation Hill. 

Where is first aid?

A First Aid tent will be located near The Crescent. 

Wristband Information

Do I need a wristband?

To help manage capacity, The Crescent Stage will operate with wristbands. No other areas are the New Year's Eve event will need a wristband. 

Children aged 18 months and over require a wristband. 

Where will I collect wristbands?

Wristbands are free and available from 1pm on Wednesday 31 December at the ticketing booth near The Crescent.

Wristbands are strictly limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. 

What is the cost of wristbands?

There is no charge for wristbands or entry. Wristbands are strictly limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. 

The wristbands help to manage capacity to help ensure everyone is kept safe.
