Location: Parramatta Square, Centenary Square & PHIVE, Parramatta NSW 2150

Event time: Friday 20 February 2026 4-9pm. 

What is happening at the event?

This family-friendly event celebrates Lunar New Year traditions and customs symbolising good luck and prosperity for the year ahead. Experience an evening filled with celebrations, delicious food and live entertainment. 

Is the event free?

Yes, entry is completely free. No tickets are required. 

What happens if it rains?

Lunar New Year celebrations will proceed if it is raining. 

If conditions make it unsafe and the event is cancelled, this information will be updated on Council’s social media platforms and website. 

Will there be first aid?

Yes. There will be first aid on site. 

Will there be fireworks?

No, there will not be a fireworks display at this year’s event, however firecrackers will be present during the event.  

Will there be public toilets nearby?

Public toilets will be located inside PHIVE, Parramatta Square, in Centenary Square, and in Parramatta Station. 

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, dogs are permitted on a leash within the public domain, however, due to large crowds and loud music, we recommend leaving pets at home for their comfort and safety.

Is the event accessible?

Yes, PHIVE, Parramatta Square and Centenary Square are accessible. 

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking is available for vehicles displaying a valid mobility parking permit.

Multi-story parking is subject to availability, the closest being:  

  • Parramatta Square Car Park
  • Wentworth Street Car Park (Parramatta Station Car Park)  
  • Parramatta Westfield  
  • Justice Precinct Car Park  
  • Eat Street Car Park 
Are there accessible toilets?

Yes, accessible toilets are available in PHIVE, Parramatta Square, in Centenary Square. 

Food & Drink

Is there food on site?

Yes, there will be a number of food vendors attending the event, as well as numerous local restaurants trading throughout Parramatta Square. 

Is there free drinking water?

Yes, free water bubblers can be found throughout Parramatta Square and Centenary Square. 

Can I bring alcohol to the event?

No. The public domain is an alcohol-free zone, however there are licensed bars and restaurants in Paramatta Square. 

Getting Here and Public Transport

The best way to get to and from Lunar New Year celebrations in Parramatta Square is by public transport. Please visit here to find out more. 

Parramatta Light Rail will be running, leave the car at home for a hassle free evening!

Parking
