Join in the festivities of the Year of the Dragon during Lunar New Year! Bring your family and friends to experience a night filled with decorations, celebrations, delicious food and live entertainment.

Soar into the New Year with fiery enthusiasm as we celebrate the auspicious and powerful dragon, the zodiac creature that brings blessings, prosperity and harmony.

This family-friendly event celebrates Lunar New Year traditions and customs symbolising good luck and prosperity for the year ahead.

Celebrations and Activities

Welcome the good fortune of the New Year with the dragon and lion dances, workshops and live entertainment. 

  • See the dragon dancing at 4.30pm and lions dancing at 4.30pm & 6.45pm.
  • The stage program runs from 4pm – 10pm and includes dance, folk, contemporary music and more.
  • The workshops on offer include flower painting, calligraphy and stamp printing. 
  • DJs will play music by Asian artists from a range of genres and around the world.
  • Try your luck at a game in our City of Parramatta container.

Art & Decorations

Get ready to snap a picture of the beautiful lantern decorations on 10 February. A giant interactive dragon installation by Amigo & Amigo will be on display in Parramatta Square from 8 - 15 February.

Food

The street food stalls on offer include mouth-watering skewers from Kayle Pinoy and treats from Kurepu Crepes, as well as Dragon Beard Candy, May’s Malaysian and Yan’s Dumplings and Noodle Bar. The Happy Dragon bar will be serving refreshing cocktails, beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks.
