Join in the festivities of the Year of the Snake during Lunar New Year! Bring your family and friends to experience a night filled with decorations, celebrations, delicious food and live entertainment.
Begin the New Year with grace and wisdom as we honour the enigmatic and insightful snake, a zodiac sign symbolising transformation, intuition and ambition.
This family-friendly event celebrates Lunar New Year traditions and customs symbolising good luck and prosperity for the year ahead.
- High-Pole Lion Dancing: Be awed by the high pole lion dancers as they balance 3-metres in the air!
- Wishing Tree sponsored by Optus: Tie your wishes to the Wishing Tree at PHIVE to manifest good luck and fortune for the new year.
- Comic + Zine Workshop by Annie Huang: Craft your own comic using Lunar New Year prompts, empty speech bubbles and illustrations.
- Ngurra Gunya Stage sponsored by Optus: Look forward to cultural entertainment including Tai Chi, lion dancing and K-Pop dance workshops held at Parramatta Town Hall.
- Cultural Workshops at St John’s Lawn: Immerse yourself in the Altitude Tea Ceremony or discover your new year future with a Chinese Horoscope Reading. Be sure to make a booking as soon as you arrive as spots are limited!
From lion dancing and firecrackers to calligraphy and Chinese horoscope readings, there is so much to do and see on Lunar New Year. Also, look out for the energetic K-Pop random play dance performance from the Korean Cultural Centre and vibrant roving SMASH cosplayers in characters you know and love.

Get ready to snap some pics of the stunning decorations and artwork installation by artist Chris Yee on display. Watch a diverse range of cultural performances on the stage or immerse yourself in a serene Chinese tea ceremony, learn to play mahjong or create your own comic or zine.

The street food market will offer mouth-watering dishes from up to 20 different stalls offering a selection of noodles, dumplings, bubble tea and skewers. Grab a chilled drink and relax in the licenced bar area right next to the action.
