Smart September

Smart September celebrates the many ways that the City of Parramatta is a vibrant, sustainable and connected centre of innovation.

A smart and innovative city uses data, technology, novel ideas, and collaboration to solve problems. The City of Parramatta has been a leader in the smart city movement, and, in August 2015, was the first local government in NSW to adopt a smart city plan.

The refreshed Smart City & Innovation Strategy, which is on public exhibition until 3 October, seeks to make Council’s vision to be a leading smart city into a reality.

This Smart September, we are celebrating all the innovative programs and practices going on in the City of Parramatta.

Parramatta Aquatic Centre (PAC) opens this September!

The Parramatta Aquatic Centre (PAC) has been designed to deliver on Council’s sustainability mission to do more and use less. For example, expansive skylights in the pool halls might look like glass but are in fact made from a special lightweight material called ETFE (Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene). ETFE filters a large proportion of infra-red light and the sun’s heat helps manage the temperature inside the pool halls.
