Battle of the Bands 2026 – Terms and Conditions of Entry

1. Promoter

The promoter of the competition is City of Parramatta Council ("the Promoter").


2. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an entry into Battle of the Bands 2026 ("the Competition"), entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Where an entrant is under 16 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent as part of the submission process. Entries submitted without the required consent may be deemed invalid.


3. Eligibility

  • The Competition is open to solo artists, duos and bands aged 12–24 years at the time of entry.
  • For band entries, at least 50% of band members must be aged between 12–24 years.
  • Artists & Bands cannot be signed to a record or publishing label.
  • Entrants must live in Western Sydney.
  • Employees of the Promoter and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
  • Priority will be given to acts from Parramatta
  • Past winners cannot enter.

 

4. Entry Requirements

  • Entries must be submitted via the official Council submission form by the advertised closing date.
  • Entries will be open from March 16 till 13 April.
  • Successful artists & bands will be notified following the closing date.
  • Each entry must include artist or band name, names and ages of all members, contact details, and a performance video or audio link.
  • Submission links must be publicly accessible or unlisted.


5. Performance Requirements

  • Finalists must prepare two songs, but may only be required to perform one. City of Parramatta will confirm if the act is chosen for final.
  • Songs must be suitable for a public, all-ages audience.


6. Originality and Content Standards

  • Original songs must be the entrant’s own work.
  • Entrants must have the right to perform both original and cover songs live.
  • Content must not be offensive, discriminatory, defamatory, or unlawful.


7. Shortlisting and Finalists

  • Eligible entries will be reviewed by City of Parramatta Council staff.
  • Finalists must be available on Friday 1 May 2026.
  • Successful acts will be emailed additional information leading up to the event.

 

8. Judging and Prizes

  • Performances will be judged on musical ability, originality, stage presence, and overall performance.
  • Judges’ decisions are final and binding.
  • Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash.


9. Performance Conditions

  • Finalists must comply with all technical, production, and safety requirements.
  • Running order, set times, and stage arrangements will be determined by the Promoter.
  • Complete stage set up is provided on the day. Audio Equipment and Backline will be supplied – 5 piece drumkit, 1 x guitar amp, 1 x bass amp, mic/stand and DIs. You will need to bring your own instruments including any keyboard set ups.


10. Photography, Recording and Promotion

  • Entrants grant permission for performances to be photographed, filmed, and recorded.
  • Recordings may be used for promotional, reporting, and archival purposes without additional payment.


11. Duty of Care and Conduct

  • Entrants must follow directions from event staff and behave respectfully.
  • Unsafe or inappropriate behavior may result in disqualification.


12. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury connected with the Competition.

 

13. Cancellation or Changes

The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or modify the Competition due to unforeseen circumstances.


14. Privacy

Personal information will be managed in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW).


15. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
