See Me, See Us – Celebrate International Day of People with Disability

Join us for a showcase that celebrates real people, real stories and real creative talent. See Me, See Us brings emerging models with disability into focus for International Day of People with Disability.

Representation in Australia still has a long way to go. People with disability are often visible, but not always in ways that reflect their full creativity, style and confidence. Afford wants to help change that. This photographic exhibition brings five new faces into focus as they step forward and show the world the many ways talent can shine.

Across three days, five Afford clients participated in a professional modelling course that built skills, confidence and self-expression. Their final portraits are now shared with the public for the very first time. This project is also about real paid creative work. Each participant has been paid to take part in Afford’s IDPwD digital campaign and will be considered for future paid opportunities, supported by a brand new professional portfolio.

What to expect:

• A photographic gallery featuring portraits and behind-the-scenes moments from the modelling course
• The chance to meet the emerging models and the creative team behind the project
• A welcoming event with a grazing station and refreshments that cater to a range of dietary needs
• A fully accessible venue with an Auslan interpreter
