Part of the Australian Heritage Festival 2026

Heritage Day at Parramatta North is proudly part of the 2026 Australian Heritage Festival, Australia’s largest community‑driven celebration of heritage, running from Friday 18 April to Sunday 18 May 2026.

Coordinated by the National Trust of Australia, this year’s theme — Change — invites us to reflect on the stories that have shaped our communities. It explores how each generation reinterprets Australia’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, breathing new life into places, objects and traditions, and imagining where they might take us next.

Honouring its place on Ngurra

Parramatta North is located on the homeland of the Burramada people of the Dharug Nation.

In collaboration with Traditional Custodians, Knowledge Holders, and those with new and enduring connections to this important place, Aboriginal perspectives continue to guide and shape its health, wellbeing and future.

The NSW Government is committed to retaining the 6‑hectare heritage and cultural precinct in public ownership. This includes the Parramatta Female Factory and Institutions Precinct, a National Heritage‑listed site within the broader 42‑hectare Parramatta North precinct.
Listed on the Australian National Heritage List since 2018, the precinct is recognised for its outstanding heritage value as a place that powerfully demonstrates Australia’s social welfare history.
