PHIVE Presents: Aboriginal Warami Mittigar Family Walk on Country
5 Parramatta Square, Parramatta NSW 2150
Join Aunty Leanne for a guided cultural walk on Country through Burramatta, in celebration of NAIDOC Week and as part of the July school holidays. This experience is an invitation to slow down, connect with place, and spend meaningful time together with family while learning from one of Dharug Country’s respected knowledge holders.
Led by Aunty Leanne, a proud Dharug woman, this gentle walk through Parramatta Park and along the Parramatta River offers insight into how local Aboriginal communities have cared for and thrived on this land for thousands of years. Through storytelling, observation and shared knowledge, you will learn about the deep and ongoing connections to Country.
Along the way, Aunty Leanne will share stories of land, waterways and sky, as well as knowledge of plant uses, tools, weaving practices, hunting and cultural traditions that continue to resonate today. This is a welcoming, family-friendly experience that supports learning, reflection and connection across generations.
Parramatta is known as Burramatta, meaning “the place of eels,” and sits on the lands and waters of the Burramattagal people of the Dharug Nation, who are the traditional custodians of this Country.
