About Best of the West: Battle of the Bands

Parramatta Square will come alive on Friday 1 May with Western Sydney’s best young local artists and bands as they compete in the Battle of the Bands. Stick around after work or school and cheer on your favourites as they take on the live music stage!

MC Ruu, is on crowd-hype duty with L-Fresh, Kelly Hellmrich and Adele Luamanuvae on the judging panel to discover the next wave of talent.

Hive Mind is a three-member dynamic teenage band formed through a shared passion for musical theatre and performing arts with a cohesive sound shaped by storytelling, energy and emotion.

Jean Elliot is grungy western, fuzz and folk singing about small-town Australia, telling stories of butchers, bush and bogans to a wall of dramatic alt-country sound.

We are Kalamity an upcoming hard rock and heavy metal band from Sydney, we deliver high-voltage riffs, thunderous drums, and raw energy.

Born and raised in Western-Sydney, LEO ABISAAB spent his youth absorbing the melodies of Neo-Soul, RnB, Jazz, Arabic Folk and pop and quickly becoming an emerging force in the Australian music scene.

Born and raised from the post-rock spirits, they created melodies, of indie, of rock, of alt and whatnot, they played music so awesome everyone's socks were rocked off. And it was good.

Sound Escape have been jamming songs together, and more recently have started composing and rehearsing their own songs.

Yasi.T is a 17 year old emerging RnB and hip hop artist who is hard working and proud of her Western Sydney roots, growing up in Bankstown, Sydney.

Three musicians perform on an outdoor stage, facing a large, seated audience. The lively atmosphere suggests enjoyment and engagement.

The finalists will go head-to-head for the chance to win incredible prizes to kickstart their entry into the live music scene. 

With major prizes sponsored by Sydney Conservatorium of Music and RØDE, plus extra prizes from Guitar Factory Parramatta, Western Sydney Music Academy, Gsus4 and Studio Daydream & Co, there's a lot on the line. On top of the prizes, the winner will also score a performance slot at Parramatta Lanes this year!
