If you believe eating food is a chance to learn about different traditions, share stories and make memories, then you’re in good company. When it comes to food, the variety of culture and passion for different lifestyles within Parramatta’s community shines bright.

The cuisines, atmosphere, and experience range from conveniently casual and affordable to extravagant and best-in-class. While there are eateries all around the city, there are three main areas you should visit: the CBD, the river, and the neighbourhoods. 

Here’s our food guide for the best places to eat in Parramatta:

In the CBD

Within the CBD, you should visit Parramatta Square, the famous Eat Street, and Horwood Place. They all offer a variety of cuisines all within walking distance of each other.

No matter your budget or time schedule, you’re sure to find something just right.

Parramatta Square

This city centre was built in response to the economic growth and demand of the expanding city. Parramatta Square is conveniently located next to the Parramatta train station and Westfield shopping centre. The precinct brings together parks, shopping, culture and food. 

There are big restaurateurs and chefs inspiring the menus here. Places you need to visit include  LilyMuRuse Bar & Brassier.

Eat Street

If you’ve heard of ‘Eat Street’ in Parramatta but can’t find it on your GPS, go to Church Street. With great outdoor seating and fairy lights at night, you’ll be sure to recognise this dining precinct once you arrive. The lively atmosphere and popular eateries keep this area bustling day and night. 

The restaurants and cafes stretch all the way from the train station down to the river. We guarantee that once you start walking, you won’t get far before stopping for some food and drinks.

Horwood Place

Horwood Place is located in the heart of the CBD. The cafes and restaurants here are convenient and easy to get to without sacrificing taste. 

If you are a coffee lover, you’ll find a piece of trendy Melbourne chic at Homage Specialty Coffee. If you want to add a yummy burger with your coffee, try Paper Plane Café. For more robust meals, try Japanese restaurant Touka or the Spanish restaurant Lola Cocina. 
 

By the River

There is a beautiful walking path around the Parramatta River. If you work up an appetite exploring the city, you can stop at one of the restaurants and cafes along the riverfront. Here are a few favourites: Alex & CO., Meat & Wine, Holy Basil and Armory Wharf café (at Newington Armory).

Neighbourhoods

If you need a food guide to Parramatta’s neighbourhoods, we recommend Sydney Olympic Park, North Rocks and Harris Park. All these locations have great eateries as well as fun outdoor adventures .

You have everything you need at Sydney Olympic Park for a wonderful day out. For a coffee or tea, visit Café on 5, The Coffee Club and B Jolly. If you’re looking to grab some food to eat on the lawn, try Bacar Bar, The Brewery Bar + Kitchen or Wok on Inn.

North Rocks

If you find yourself north of Parramatta exploring the North Rocks park or local bushwalks, be sure to stay for a meal or two. Located near North Rocks, Winston Hills is a well-kept foodie secret. Chisholm Centre in Winston Hills is home to three amazing eateries that will sort you out for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Bagel Bakery Café is famous for their meat pies and sausage rolls. You’ll also find temping desserts and treats there too!

For all your favourite Vietnamese dishes, head straight for My Hao. Their menu offers everything from rice paper rolls to beef noodle soup and crispy chicken with egg noodles. 

The third and final location at Chisholm Centre is Chook-a-licious. They offer gourmet takeaway food and have pet-friendly outdoor seating for you to enjoy. True to their name, at Chook-a-licious you’ll find cooked chickens, souvlaki plates, burgers, salads, and even desserts.

Harris Park

Harris Park is just south of Parramatta. Here you’ll find the James Ruse Reserve Water Playground, Experiment Farm Cottage and Sydney’s Little India. There are more than 20 eateries on Wigram Road where you will find the very best of Indian cuisine.

For a few suggestions, try: Billu’s Indian, Dosa Hut, and Chatkazz Sweets & Namkeen
