Parramatta River Foreshore

Along the northern and southern banks of Parramatta River

Located along the northern and southern banks of Parramatta River, most residents within proximity to Parramatta River can enjoy pockets of open space and parks found alongside the river near many residential areas. Home to the Parramatta River Walk, your scenic stroll or bicycle ride be easily broken into smaller chunks due to the abundance of parks along this journey, many featuring playspaces and other open space facilities such as picnic tables and seating.

Arthur Phillip Park 

2a Edward Street, Northmead

Featuring cricket/football field, fitness stations, a one-third basketball court as well as a circuit track, this moderately-sized park nestled behind Cumberland highway does as much as possible to meet community needs. As well as appealing to local residents seeking to expel some excess energy, this park is also home to a recently-upgraded district-level playground, which is a skill and sensory-based playspace most suited to children up to 12 years of age and includes but is not limited to slides, climbing equipment, monkey bars, and swings. Residents can make the most of their stay by using the barbecue and picnic facilities and as well as this there are public toilets onsite which are open from 6:00am to 8:00pm.

Belmore Park (major upgrade occurring in 2025/26)

Cnr Castle Street and Pennant Hills Road, North Parramatta

Belmore Park is a widely-used park located in North Parramatta. It’s main attraction is its cricket oval, named after Australian cricketer Richie Bernaud. As well as this, Belmore Park features a playground with swings, slide, and climbing equipment. There are also cricket nets for practicing your batting and bowling.

Belmore Park will also be receiving a major facelift in the 2025/26 financial year, with an upgrade of the oval to a turf wicket. As well as this, new cricket practice nets will be installed as well as a new sports pavilion building with spectator seating, a district-level playground will be introduced as well as fitness equipment.

Prince Alfred Square

353d Church Street, Parramatta

Located across the road from Riverside theatres and Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, and only a short walk from Commbank Stadium and Parramatta River Walk, Prince Alfred Square is centrally located. Prince Alfred Square is one of three squares located in the Parramatta Local Government Area and is recognised as one of NSW’s oldest parks. With many monuments dotted throughout which provides nods to the location’s post-settlement history, it’s a nice little park to add to your agenda should you happen to be nearby.

Sue Savage Reserve and Reynolds Park (major upgrade occurring in 2025/26)

2a Chanel Street, Toongabbie

Sue Savage Reserve and Reynolds Park is a stretch of greenspace located in Toongabbie, next to Old Windsor Road. Connected via footpath to the end of Fitzwilliam Road (next to the canal near the Fitzwilliam/Station Road roundabout), it is a good option for those wishing to take a leisurely afternoon stroll. Features include a playspace, basketball court, 1/3 basketball court, small bicycle loop for children, and barbecue and picnic facilities.

This location has also been successful in obtaining grant funding from the NSW Governments Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program (WSIG). With construction expected to begin in early 2025, residents can look forward to seeing a new bmx pump track, skate park, and amenities building being delivered for the community in the coming years.
