PHIVE Supports Term 3: Evening Tai Chi
-
weekly - Tuesday
5 Parramatta Square, Parramatta NSW 2150
End your day with balance, focus, and tranquillity. In this class, we will explore the ancient practice of Tai Chi, a gentle form of martial arts that emphasises slow, flowing movements and deep breathing. Practice Tai Chi to improve the body's health by learning and practising simple movements that are easy, slow and non-strenuous. Tai Chi movements focus a lot on weight bearing exercises which help improve the strength of the leg muscles in supporting the body. This makes breathing easier and lighter when performing other movements.
Tai Chi is best known for its relaxing and calming effects. The smooth flowing movements with weaving, twisting motions help to stimulate the nerves and loosen tense muscles. Modern technology and living conditions subject us to immense stress, leaving us drained of energy at the end of each day. Tai Chi’s flowing movements and energy meditation have the therapeutic effects of slowing down the mind and refreshing the body.
Beginners are suitable for all people and ages. If you’re unable to do certain movements, you can do the exercises seated and still gain the benefits of Tai Chi.
