Park Care: Clean Up the Badu Mangroves
Join our Park Rangers in this Park Care initiative and contribute to the ongoing protection of the Badu Mangroves.
The Badu Mangrove contains the largest stands of Mangrove Forest (protected estuarine vegetation) and Coastal Saltmarsh (endangered ecological community) along the Parramatta River estuary. A large amount of litter accumulates in this area during hide tide and after heavy rainfall events.
Sign up for a Clean Up Program session and assist the Park Rangers in collecting litter from these areas, while learning more about the value of these ecological communities.
Due to the fragile nature of the site, these clean ups are limited to 20 participants; we’d love to see you register your interest to attend this clean up.
Please note that the final 15 minutes of the program is set aside to audit the litter collected. An informative exercise to help evaluate where the litter has started its journey.
Please wear enclosed sturdy shoes, long trousers, long sleeve shirt, hat, sunscreen and repellent. Participants are also asked to bring their own pair of gloves. Clean up equipment (tongs/pickers) and garbage bags are provided.
