What are the dates?

The Parramatta Nights Street Festival runs from:

  • Friday 18 March 5pm - 10pm
  • Saturday 19 March 2pm – 11pm
  • Sunday 20 March 2pm – 8pm
  • 25 March 5pm - 10pm
  • Saturday 26 March 2pm – 11pm
  • Sunday 27 March 2pm – 8pm
Are there family activities?

Yes, Saturday before 5pm and all day Sunday you will find family-friendly things to do.

How much does it cost?

The whole event is free! Please note some sites have a small capacity, if you don’t want to miss an artist or show best to get in early.

Where will this occur?

The festival this year will be held on Phillip Street, with activations in sites surrounding Phillip Street. See the site map for more information.

Is the Street Festival an over 18 event?

No, however there will be licenced areas through the precinct. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian within these areas.

Phillip Street Stage, Church Street and Eat Street Rooftop Top are for all ages.

What happens if it rains, or the weather is bad?

We will have stage covers and partial marquee covers on most sites. If the weather looks inclement, the event will still go ahead so bring an umbrella!  

Can I bring alcohol (BYO)?

No. However, we will have a fully licenced bar selling a range of alcoholic, low alcohol and alcohol-free drinks.

Is there food on site?

There are a few food vendors with our licensed site for your convenience. There is also a lot of options on Church Street and Phillip Street.  

When will my favourite artist be on?

Set times will available closer to the date. Be sure to come early so you can enjoy the food, drinks & line up.

Is this event accessible?

Yes. All sites are accessible and accommodating to accessibility requirements.

How will this event remain COVID Safe?

City of Parramatta will endeavour to adhere to follow all current NSW Government Health orders, including frequent cleaning of commonly used surfaces, sanitising stations and maintaining social distancing, where possible.

Do I have to wear a mask?

A mask is not required at this event, but we do encourage the wearing of one if you are unable to safely social distance. We encourage all patrons to check the current NSW Government Health order closer to the time of your visit.

Do I need to be vaccinated to attend?

While we encourage all visitors to be fully vaccinated, it is not mandatory if you plan on visiting. We encourage all patrons to check the current NSW Government Health order closer to the time of your visit

Is the event ticketed?

No! The event is free, open to all ages and you do not require a ticket and do not need to be registered. 

What happens if it rains, or the weather is bad?

In the event of bad weather, event updates will be posted on the At Parramatta Facebook page

Light to medium rain or winds will not cause cancellation of the event. In the interests of public safety, any adverse weather forecasts of lightning, very heavy rain and or strong winds may result in event cancellation. 

How do I get to the event?

If you live locally you can walk to the event and enter Parramatta Park from multiple entry points. If travelling from a distance, we recommend public transport – it is an 18-minute walk to the Crescent from Westmead station and a 10-minute walk via the George Street Gatehouse from the George St bus stops. 

If entering from Westmead, you will need to come through the Queens Road gate because of construction works.

There will be a shuttle bus running on the day from 3:30pm to 5:30 pm and then from 9:15pm to 10:00pm. 

The pick-up and drop off points are: 

1. Cnr of Church and Argyle Streets, servicing the railway station. 
2. George Street Gates, Junction of O’Connell & George Streets; the Parramatta Park drop off & pick-up. 
3. Cnr of Phillip and Charles Street, servicing the ferry terminal.

COVID-19

The City of Parramatta continues to manage its events in line with current NSW Health rules and restrictions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

For your own safety at the event, we encourage you to maintain distance where you can, wear a mask where distance cannot be achieved and maintain good hygiene with thorough and regular handwashing.

Remember, if unwell, stay home, get tested and isolate. 

Is there food on-site?

Yes, there will be a delicious range of food options on site for purchase. Alternatively, you can bring your own picnic to enjoy.

Is there a bar on-site?

No, the site will not be licensed. 

Is there free water on site? Can I bring my own water?

Yes, free drinking water will be available at a number of locations on site. You can also bring your own water.  

Can I bring alcohol (BYO)?

Yes. Patrons may bring a small amount of alcohol for personal consumption noting that liquor brought into the park will be restricted to 1 litre per person with a maximum of 14% alcohol.

Is there Public Parking Available?

There is no public parking available at Parramatta Park for the event and the Park closes at 2pm on Sunday 27 March to all vehicles. (Please refer to the accessibility section if you have accessibility requirements.)

Is the event site accessible?

Yes. The event is fully accessible. There will be two designated accessibility viewing areas, one at the bottom of the Crescent Amphitheatre in front of the stage and one at the top. View the event map here.

Will there be an Accessibility Shuttle Bus?

Yes. The bus will run from 3:30pm to 5:30 pm and then from 9:15pm to 10:00pm.

Is accessible parking and pick up or drop off available?

Accessible parking or pick up and drop off is available at Parramatta Park via the Pitt/Macquarie Street entrance. Refer to the area marked ‘Pre-booked Accessible Parking’ on the event map here. Patrons with accessible needs and with a NSW Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS) permit can register by emailing events@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au 

When registering, patrons will need to provide their permit number, vehicle registration, contact name and contact number. 

An accessibility buggy will provide a shuttle service from the Car Park to the concert site between 3:30pm and 10:00pm and can be contacted for pick up on 0400 416 899. 

Please be aware that if you do park inside the Park you will not be permitted to leave until security advises that the roads are clear of pedestrians. 

Are there accessible toilets onsite?

Yes, accessible toilets will be within the ticketed event site.

May I bring a chair?

Yes, bring a low beach chair so that you do not block the views of others. Higher chairs will be sent to the back of the Crescent by security.

Will there be chairs for hire?

No, there will be no chairs for hire.

Who is playing?

Sydney Symphony Orchestra will be performing a unique program of classical music from across the ages.

Is the event ticketed?

This event is free and unticketed, all are welcome to join.

What time should I arrive?

The official program starts at 7pm. We recommend arriving earlier to secure a space and get your picnic space sorted. Gates open from 5pm, and food trucks will also be open from this time.

Weather

The event will operate rain or shine. This is an outdoor event, so we recommend being prepared and bringing warm and weatherproof clothing.  

In the unlikely event, there is extreme weather or hazardous conditions that pose a safety risk, there may be restrictions on the program and what proceeds on the evening. We recommend keeping up to date via our Sydney Festival Facebook page.

Is there food on-site?

There will be food trucks at the event with a range of food and beverages for sale from the afternoon to the end of the evening.  

You are also welcome to bring your own picnic and alcohol. However, glass drinking glasses are not permitted on site. Please ensure waste is disposed of in the rubbish bins located around the site. 

Is there a bar on-site?

No, the site will not be licensed.

Is there free water on site? Can I bring my own water?

Yes, water fountains are available at the event. Please look for water banners around the site.

Can I bring alcohol (BYO)?

Yes. Patrons may bring a small amount of alcohol for personal consumption.

Is the event site accessible?

All permanent toilet facilities have an accessible toilet. At Sydney Symphony Under the Stars the precinct is relatively flat with a mix of grass and paved surfaces. Accessible amenities are available. 

Is accessible parking and pick up or drop off available?

Accessible parking is available in the Bowling Green Carpark for RMS mobility parking passes and must be booked in advance.

Are there accessible toilets onsite?

All permanent toilet facilities have an accessible toilet.  

Is photography allowed?

Yes, Sydney Festival encourages visitors to photograph or film their visit for personal use and share it with us using #sydneyfestival and #parrapark

Are there toilets?

Yes, toilets (including accessible toilets) are located at the front of The Crescent to the side of the stage. Look out for signage, or see one of our helpful Sydney Festival volunteers in lavender t-shirts for directions.

Is there first aid?

Yes, St John’s Ambulance will be present should you require assistance. They will be located to the right side as you look at the stage. Should you require immediate assistance, please see Sydney Festival staff or security.

Are there tables and chairs at Jazz After Dark?

Yes!  Jazz After Dark is set up as an outdoor jazz-café in Parramatta Square – with tables, chairs and lounges for a relaxed laid-back atmosphere. 

We encourage listeners to grab some takeaway meals, snacks, gelato, coffee (and other non-alcohol drinks) from Parramatta Square’s top eateries.  

You can pop in to Ruse Brasserie for a drink at the bar and still hear the music nearby, but alcohol can’t be brought to the jazz café tables. 

Is there food on-site?

Parramatta Square is a food-lover’s paradise! Choose delicious takeout meals or snacks from Ciccia Bella, Ruse Bar & Brasserie, LILYMU, Rivareno Gelato, Fishbowl, Henry’s Hot Sandwiches or Betty’s Burgers to enjoy at the jazz-café tables with a VIP view of the band.  

You can pop in to Ruse Brasserie for a drink at the bar and still hear the music nearby, but alcohol can’t be brought to the jazz café tables. 

Ngana Birrung (pronounced Nin-Gahna Bir-Rung, Dharug for Black Stars) will shine bright in Burramatta on the 3rd of April. Due to the adverse wet weather conditions forecast for the next few days, the opening of Skate and Play has been delayed until Sunday 10 April.

What’s happening at the event?

There will be a roller rink, amusement rides, food area, music and a giant immersive inflatable interactive installation.

Is the event ticketed?

Entry is free however tickets need to be purchased for sessions at the Roller Rink and Amusement rides.

How much are tickets?

Roller Rink – $5 for a single entry, 30min skate session and skate hire.  If you bring your own skates, then your session is free

Amusement Rides – Rides will vary in price with various discounts available. Please visit the Joylands website for further details

Do I have to purchase tickets online?

No.  Both the Roller Rink and Amusement rides allow for at the door ticket purchases. However, some discounts and specials may only be available on the Joylands website.

If my Roller Rink session is postponed/delayed due to temporary bad weather, what happens to my ticket?

You will have an option to attend another session later, either on the same day or another day during the period of the event. You can also request a refund at the skate hire desk at the event.

What happens if it rains?

Light/medium rain will not cause cancellation of the event. As public safety is one of our priorities, adverse weather forecasts of lightning storms, torrential rain and or strong winds may result in event cancellation, postponement, or delay. The roller rink is under full cover and will continue to operate under light/medium rain.

How should I travel to the event?

We recommend travelling by bus or train and walking to the event. Some buses stop along the immediate surrounding streets and will place you within meters of the event. The nearest train station is Parramatta Station which is a 10min walk from the event.

Where can I park?

Parking is limited, with the closest secure parking on Ross Street. Please be advised this secure parking might require payment and has varied hours of operation.

Street parking is available around the event, but please check all signage for permitted times. It is up to the responsibility of drivers to observe and obey all street parking signs. Council will not be responsible for any fines, cost or damages associated with any parking infringements.

Is there public transport?

Bus and trains are the recommended public transport option. The nearest major train station is Parramatta, a 10min walk from the event.

Is there food on site?

Yes, there will a great selection of food offerings on site during the entire period of the event. Please see the website for further information on what’s on offer. Cooking equipment, such as camping gas burners, are not permitted on site.

Is there a bar on site?

Yes. There is a bar on site for the entire duration of the event.  

Can I bring alcohol (BYO)?

No. No BYO is allowed within the event site, and the consumption of alcohol is only permitted within the licensed area.

Are the event sites accessible?

The entire site is accessible. The north, eastern and western quadrants are accessible via the centre of the square, whilst the southern quadrant is accessible via Market St (near the old bus stop shelter).

Are there accessible toilets onsite?

Yes, accessible toilets will be on the northern quadrant opposite the roller rink.

What kind of activities are there?

There is a wide variety of activities for the whole family, including;

  • Northern Quadrant: Amusement Rides
  • Eastern Quadrant: Food & Bar area
  • Southern Quadrant: Lost Dogs Disco a giant immersive & interactive inflatable art instillation
  • Western Quadrant: Roller Skating rink with multiple 30 min skate session every day
Do I have to wear a mask?

A mask is not required at this event, but we do encourage the wearing of one where areas are more crowded or when queuing. We encourage all patrons to check the current NSW Government Health order closer to the time of your visit.

What do I do if I have lost my child?

Please speak with event staff or security, within the event site or at the First Aid marquee.

Do you have wristbands/ID for children?

Child wristbands are available at the event site office, for parents and guardians to write their mobile number. This assists event staff and security in reuniting lost children with their parent or guardian.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are welcome in the square.  Dogs must always remain on a leash, be well behaved and socialised.
