Where is the event being held?

The Cattle Paddock, Parramatta Park, Parramatta. 

What time do the events take place?

Balloon Glow: 4pm on Saturday 25 January 2025 to 9pm on Saturday 25 January 2025

Balloon Breakfast: 6am on Sunday 26 January 2025 to 11am on Sunday 26 January 2025
 

When does the event finish?

11am, 26 January 2023

Can I park at the park?

No. The park will be closed to general vehicle traffic on event days. Street parking will be subject to availability in surrounding streets. It’s recommended patrons attend the event via public transport – the closest train station being Westmead Station, or via carpool or ride-share apps.

Can I ride my bike to, and in the park?

Yes, there will be Bicycle Valet Parking at the event site. Please ride with caution as there may be pedestrians and event vehicles on the road.

Where is the Free Bicycle Valet Parking?

CAMWEST will be providing free parking for bicycles, located at the southern entry to the event site, near the amusement rides and Musical Garden. They will be set up adjacent to where the road forks and heads down Long Avenue, towards the hot air balloons. Look out for wayfinding signage that says “Free Bicycle Valet Parking”. 

Is there accessible/disabled parking?

Yes. The entrance to accessible parking is at the intersection of Railway Pd and Park Ave (near Westmead station). Disability Parking Permits must be shown at all times.

What public transport is available to the event?

Regular public transport will be available on the day with Westmead Station being the closest train station to the event. The event site is a 15-minute walk from the station.

Can I bring alcohol to the event?

No. There is no alcohol at this event.

Will you have wristbands or ID for kids?

Wristbands and markers will be available at the information booth throughout the day. 

Will there be fireworks?

No. There will be no fireworks at this year’s Australia Day Event.

Can I bring a shade tent/dome?

No. Shade tents/domes and other similar structures are not permitted at the event.

I can’t walk very far or for very long, is there any assistance for getting round the park?

Yes, there will be an accessibility buggy running throughout the event on both days.

Will there be free drinking water?

Yes – drinking water will be available from the bubbler stations throughout the event.

What time do the rides close?

Ticket sales for amusement rides will cease 30 minutes before the event finishes, with rides stopping at 9pm on 25 January and 11am on 26 January.

How do I buy a ticket for the balloons?

Hot Air Balloon tickets will be made available to the lucky patrons by ballot system. 

Ballot registrations open 10am, Thursday 2 January and close 5pm, Tuesday 7 January. Terms and conditions apply*.

The Balloon Ride ballot has now closed. If you are a successful applicant, you will be contacted to purchase your tickets.

*Transaction fees may apply. One ballot entry per household. Once the ballot is closed, winners will be randomly selected and a direct link to purchase tickets will be sent. Successful ballot entry winners can book up to four tickets for their balloon ride. Any duplicate purchases may risk having their tickets cancelled without a refund. Due to safety reasons, children under 6 years are unable to ride in the hot air balloons.

Is there an age limit for the balloons?

Yes, for safety reasons children under the age of 6 will be unable to ride in the balloons. 

Will there be public toilets nearby?

Yes. There will be toilets available to the event site – including an accessibility bathroom. 

Will there be food available?

Yes. There will be food vendors trading from 4pm - 9pm on the 25th, and 6am – 12pm on the 26th

What if it’s raining/windy/hot?

Get Up & Glow, Australia Day Weekend will proceed in wet, warm, and windy weather, but not in hazardous conditions. Some shade/sheltered areas will be provided for patrons use.

Hot Air Balloons may be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, such as heat, wind, and lightning.
